Lightning Bounties secures BOLT-11 Deposits with Branta

In early 2024, Lightning Bounties won the MIT Hackathon for enabling instant Bitcoin payments for acceptable code solutions on Github. This post highlights Lightning Bounties partnership with Branta to secure BOLT-11 deposits.

Lightning Bounties is an innovative platform that enables Open Source projects on Github to post bounties. Projects incentivize developers by posting sats.

The platform blends borderless payments, open source collaboration, (soon) AI-based workflows, and instant payments via the Lightning Network into one streamlined platform.

To date, thousands of sats have flowed through the platform, creating the foundations of an open source market.

To incentivize work, Companies & Open-Source Projects connect Github Issues, and commit sats via BOLT-11.

The owner then deposits Bitcoin to offer value-for-value completion of the issue:

Before deposit, users have the ability to verify payment -  ensuring a secure connection to Lightning Bounties:

By verifying the deposit, client-side tampering is easily detected (previously not possible for the user). Branta flags non-matching BOLT-11 deposits as suspect. Any internet-connected device can verify.
